Hey, welcome to my site.
I was about 13 years old when I found an old discarded guitar. It
only had 4 or 5 strings on it, but from morning till night I played
that thing till my fingers were raw. That old guitar was out of tune
and a little warped, but I still used it to make up songs and then
write them down in a little notebook. Thankfully, a couple of months
later my parents seeing my sudden interest in music, bought me my
first new 6-string acoustic. For the rest of my teen years I wrote
more songs and filled up more notebooks.
Unfortunately, due to
life’s circumstances and a few bad personal choices, the next
twenty-plus years saw my active song writing days become few and far
between. Though thoughts of writing never left me.
Then on a warm, June,
Nashville, night, I shuffled into the Bluebird Cafe. Taking the only
remaining seat, I settled in to listen to the accomplished works of
Eric Heatherly, Neil Coty, Bill Lloyd, and Wayland Patton. I was
mesmerized as each of them played their songs. Now I know I’m not
the first songwriter to be inspired by Nashville and places like the
Bluebird. But that night I had one of those “Ah-ha” moments. That
night I remembered that old guitar. I remembered that teenage kid,
his love of music, and his dreams to write. That night I was
reminded that that kids passion for song writing...was still
mine.
So
here I write.
