Welcome
to my webpage! I'm proud to be a part of Songwriter Forums and appreciate
the hard work that goes into making this community a great place to share
ideas and information. I'm also glad you are interested in my music (or at
least my webpage).
I'm a Southern California native and presently live with my wife and 4
children (ages 5, 4, 2, and 2 months) in Marietta, GA, outside Atlanta. Like
a lot of you, I had early dreams of being a songwriter. For me, I guess it
started with John Denver. My dad was a big John Denver fan. His music piqued
my interest in playing the guitar, learning to sing harmonies, and in vivid
songwriting imagery.
My musical roots are grounded in American Music - folk, roots rock, blues,
country, rockabilly, jazz, and Western. In my writing, I lean towards the
classic Nashville country sounds, with some other styles interjected here
and there.
I've always been a student of poetry and I enjoy the technical side of
writing. I try to apply what little I know of this to my songs. As far as
musical abilities, I play the guitar and a little banjo and piano. I have an
ear for music, so I've never been a strong student of music theory. I grew
up singing at church and can attribute whatever amateur talent I might
possess in that department to lots of practice sight-reading and singing a
capella every Sunday.
My hope in being a part of the Songwriter Forums is to improve my abilities
as a songwriter by conversing with the many talented people associated with
this community. I've already learned so much and have made some valuable
friendships. My ultimate goal, of course, is to have my music published and
recorded some day.
You can hear some of my finished songs and works in progress on this site.
Please share your feedback with me - good or bad. I'm just trying to be a
better writer, like everybody else.
I've got a steady job (thank goodness) as an insurance fraud investigator. I
get to see the worst in some people...so my outlet is spending time with my
family and playing and writing music. While the insurance work is a good
job, my dream is still to write songs for a living. I know many of you share
that dream and I wish you good luck in your pursuit of it!
I recently completed my first real studio demo session. It was a neat
experience being recorded by somebody who knows what they are doing. I have
included all 6 of those demo songs in the SF Jukebox.
Thanks for listening!
